Michelle Obama Speech

Michelle Obama spoke tonight. This in itself is nothing new. She has transformed herself into a likeable first lady and she will try to help President Obama in his task to win a second term. She had a great message and a great agenda. She is a great advocate of health care reform. More importantly Michelle Obama has increased her visibility as an ambassador for the President.

The newscasters and pundants are comparing Michelle to Ann Romney. To me it is no comparison between the two, both come from divergent backgrounds. One black, one white. Both are passionate about their message and their husbands. You've got to give them both credit for that. They are both strong women. They do have much in common. They have simular missions, both care about their families. But that is where the comparisons end. In reality Democrats and Republicans have different agendas.

Michelle Obama stands for everything that our Government can do to help Americans in need. I write this in anticipation of Michelle Obama's speech. She is not from the upper crust. She does not live as the rich may live. She was literally raised in the in humble beginning. She works hard and look where she is today.

Michelle spoke about values, what it means to be providers for the family. She spoke about basic American values. You work hard, you're committed, you will succeed in this world. She talked about gratitude and humanity, values that define who we are. Michelle said “Being president dosen't change who you are. It reveals who you are”. Barack Obama said Michelle lived this realization. We literally witnessed the total transformation of Michelle.

Four years in the White House has allowed her to see what the rigors of the Presidency can do by bringing out the best in it's inhabitants. In this case Barack and Michelle. The Obamas believed not in how much money you make, but the difference you make in someones life.

This sums it up… “My most important role is being a mom”.. Michelle Obama

What Are Herman Cain’s Intentions?

Herman Cain seems to be in the race perhaps for  a  position in the administration should a Republican candidate win the nomination.  When prompted the question at the most recent debate as to what position he would take in a supporting role, Cain did not reaffirm his commitment to be president. He instead answered the question and inferred that he would entertain any offers should he not be the nominee.

This is unprecedented in  the heat of a political race. Never has a current candidate suggested anything other than they are in it to win it.  So Mr. Cain  apparently relishes the attention. Attention is publicity and aids him in securing a position after he loses the nomination.  Sarah Palin, played this card magnificently.

The evidence is pretty clear, Cain was on a book tour when he started his campaign. So where  does his goals and  intentions lie?

We  will need stay tuned to this story, because the last chapter has definitely not been written.

Your Soaring Health Insurance Premiums – NYTimes.com

Published: October 3, 2011

Annual premiums for employer-sponsored health coverage soared by 9 percent for families and 8 percent for individuals this year from 2010, far faster than wages or inflation. Republicans, predictably, blamed health care reform for contributing to the rise. In fact, the reforms accounted for only 1.5 percentage points of the increase this year. The value to millions of Americans who are already getting expanded coverage and benefits is undeniable.

Health Insurers Push Premiums Sharply Higher (September 28, 2011)

Times Topic: Health Care Reform

So what is driving up insurance premiums? The main factors, analysts say, were increased medical care costs and higher profits for insurance companies, which charged a lot more in premiums than they paid out for medical services. Both problems are being addressed by the health care reforms. But, clearly, they will require even more vigorous attention.

This latest survey by the Kaiser Family Foundation and the Health Research and Educational Trust found that the average total family premium climbed above $15,000 in 2011, with the worker paying roughly $4,100 and the employer about $10,900. Since the survey started in 1999, worker contributions to premiums have increased 168 percent, while wages have gone up 50 percent.

The two reforms that affected premiums — together making up about one-sixth of the 9 percent premium increase for a family plan — required that parents be allowed to keep children up to age 26 on their policies and that many insurance plans cover preventive services like cancer screening and immunizations at no cost to patients. Some 2.3 million young adults were enrolled on parental policies and 28 million workers (plus their dependents) benefited from preventive care provisions.

The reform law has two provisions that kicked in this year and could help hold down premiums in 2012. Insurers will have to spend at least 80 percent to 85 percent of their premiums on medical care, which will force them to keep the premiums closer to their claim payments. And insurers seeking rate increases of 10 percent or more in the individual and small-group markets must disclose and justify their proposed rates, allowing state regulators an opportunity to reject them or force them down.

The reform law also provides $250 million for grants to help states strengthen their ability to challenge insurers’ rate requests. Only about half the states give insurance commissioners power to veto rates deemed excessive; all should allow regulators to reject unfair increases before they happen.

For the longer term, the reform law will create a slew of pilot projects in Medicare to find ways to reduce the cost of delivering care. Any effective strategy should be pushed quickly into the private sector. Until the underlying health care costs are reduced, it will be hard to hold premiums down.

Mr. President Your Speech To Congress was a Home Run

Mr. President, you  stood up to the Republicans in Congress tonight.  You made it awfully hard for Republicans to ignore your plea ” To Pass This Plan Now.”  I am with you and proud of your response.  I believe the response was right on time!   This is what the country needed from you.  They needed this speech desperately from you.  You will see your poll numbers rise rapidly as a result of this speech.

The American people needed you to fight for them and you certainly did that for us tonight.  We are with you, Mr. President!  We know that you will continue to be passionate about helping the American people.   This speech was a home run and  when your Poll numbers rise, it will be because the American people truly believe that you are really fighting for them.

Yes, it was high stakes, and you rose to the moment and delivered. Congratulations!

Governor Rick Perry’s Event Honors the Lord

I tuned into the internet stream of Governor Rick Perry’s Event and I can honestly say that it was not political, but spiritual, giving honor and glory to the Lord and our Savior Jesus Christ. It’s about living for the purpose of Almighty God.

The event was an opportunity to give praise and honor to the Lord.  I am not a Republican by any means, but I am drawn to the message of giving praise, honor and glory to the Lord.  Any mean-spirited, judgmental exercise is not appropriate, God would not condone such behavior.

Jesus addressed this issue of Prideful Judgement behavior by saying these words in Matthew 7: 5- You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

Speakers emphasized  we much get our own house in order, rather than point fingers at others. If all of us did this, we would find that  the world would live morally and walk in the light of Lord.  All of us have fallen short of the glory of the Lord. But we must take a stand for the Lord God Almighty.

We must stand up for Jesus, in the face of attacks from everyone. His name is precious and His name is wonderful and He can do the same for your life.

You tried everything else in the evil world, why not try Him?  Almighty God is all inclusive and includes everyone on this earth.

Your home is with the Lord, confess your sins ask, Jesus to come into your life  right here right now and come back home to Him today.  Nothing in this world can give you the peace of mind that you’ll experience by doing this….  don’t trust me, trust the Lord Today.

Michelle Bachman Enters The Race for President- Really??

Here’s one of the first strikes from Michele Bachmann against Barack Obama, in her recently announced bid to become President of the United States. From Bachmann’s Official website.  The rhetoric continues.

Washington, Jun 10 – Here’s another reason why most Americans want ObamaCare repealed: they’re afraid of losing their employer-provided health insurance. A majority of Americans receives their health insurance through their job. But, because of ObamaCare, up to half of employers may stop providing coverage for their employees, and fifteen percent of employees who lose that coverage may leave their jobs because of a lack of coverage (according to a study by McKinsey and Company).

Those numbers reflect the potential for a far greater problem than the estimates of the Congressional Budget Office. Our current economy experienced bleak first quarter growth of 1.8 percent and unemployment stands at 9.1 percent. The Obama Administration has naively referred to those numbers as “bumps on the road to recovery.” Once again, the President is misdiagnosing an ongoing crisis that the American people understand all too well, and his ObamaCare will cause more than a mere “bump” on America’s quest to restore economic prosperity. ObamaCare could better be compared to a blown tire that stalls recovery like the President’s failed trillion-dollar stimulus.

The former director of the Congressional Budget Office, Douglas Holtz-Eakin, predicts that ObamaCare will cost at least a $1 trillion dollars more, over the next ten years, than the President projected. One reason ObamaCare will drive up costs is because the demand for doctors, nurses, medical equipment and facilities will increase dramatically.

It takes at least seven years of study after college to become a doctor; there are nurse shortages across the country and few new hospitals are under construction. There simply isn’t enough time between now and 2014, when ObamaCare fully kicks in, to meet the additional demand for doctors, nurses and hospitals. Healthcare could face rationing, lines may lengthen, and costs will go up. None of these options will be good for the American people and our fragile economy.

ObamaCare will have dire consequences on our once-thriving economy. That’s one reason why I joined my colleagues in the House of Representatives in passing H.R. 2 last January to repeal the law as unconstitutional.

Palin Post Election Interviews Are Not Helping Her

Sarah Palin says during last week’s media blitz that she would love to do interviews. The problem is that Palin did not help herself by conducting all the interviews. She actually hurt herself in the interviews. Matt Lauer’s interview with Palin brought out twisted logic and some cases out and out lies to cover up her ineptitude.

Sarah Palin is extremely ambitious, and very unprepared. She did not clearly articulate her vision on what she wants to do next or her vision for Alaska. She did not get specifics on what she would do in the future. Many in the media say she often goes into Tina Fey mode when she has no answer or does not know the answer to questions.

Palin said the mainstream media started the rumor that her son was not her baby. In fact John McCain put out a press release about the rumors stated on the Internet; at the point the media responded. Palin tried to paint herself as a victim. Because of the scrutinizing of Reporters like Katie Curic and Wolf Blitzer, the American people earned more about the unpreparedness of Sarah Palin.

Obama Closes- While McCain-Palin Continue To Feud

The Democrats look for the race to tighten up in the last few days of the campaign. Florida is a battle ground state. Governor Charlie Crist has extended early voting hours, so most polls will be open for twelve hours. The Obama campaign is a well oil machine and well organized. Obama is out spending McCain 4 to 1. Tonight Barack Obama will buy time on many Television stations nationwide. This is an unprecedented move for any candidate and has never been done in history. It is an half hour ad. His last closing argument to the nation.

This is the latest in the many twist and turns of the Obama- McCain battle for the White House. Sarah Palin continues to build an audience for what many seem to think is a move to be the presidential candidate in 2012. Palin has decided she would take advantage of her stage despite McCain’s slip in the polls. A top unnamed McCain advisor called her a “wack job”. Yet no one is blaming John McCain for choosing her. There is no criticism of McCain for choosing her. McCain is the the main culprit for choosing Palin as his running mate.

This is not a good scenario for the Republicans. The way John McCain has managed his campaign leaves much to be desired. If this foreshadows how he will manage a McCain administration, we are in deep trouble.

While Palin Attacks; The Alaskan Legislative Council Say Palin Violated Public Trust As Governor

Sarah Palin has been campaigning hard to discredit Barack Obama. Trying to link him to William Ayers. She has spewed hate and fear within the Republican Conservative Base and has effectively brought out the worst in not only the Republican audience but also in herself. The low point of this assault came today in Minnesota when an obviously, ignorant woman, stood up at a McCain rally and said she thought that Barack Obama was an Arab. To his credit, John McCain said Barack was not an Arab.

McCain has a lot to deal with at his rallys, shouts of traitor, terrorist, or how about this; kill him. What kind of people attend McCain rallys? It would lead one to believe that Sarah Palin is the magnet to draw these types of people to McCain rallys. She has led the charge of denouncing Obama as a terrorist and someone who cannot be trusted. Now today we see that Sarah Palin can’t be trusted as well. Why? Because Palin was determined today, by bi-partisan Alaskan Legislative Council, to abuse her power as Governor, by pressuring subordinates to fire her brother-in-law. In theory to advance her personal agenda. In the process, she fired the head of the Alaskan State Troopers, Walt Monegan, because he refused to fire him. Which in fact is an ethics violation.

Yet here is a women on the campaign trail calling Obama Un-American and a terrorist. Perhaps now we will see a change in strategy from the McCain camp in putting Palin out front on Obama attacks. If you live in a glass house as Republicans do…. please do not throw any stones.
