The Charleston Victims And Their Families Need Our Prayers

I have mixed emotions concerning the tragedy that took place in Charleston, South Carolina. I grew up an AME pastor’s son and my father served as a pastor at nine AME churches in the south and as Presiding elder  of the North Nashville District of the AME church for over 16 years.  My father served at over nine AME churches doing his career. I grew up in the AME church. He’s gone on now to be with The Lord, but he  would be more than concerned about what happened at Emanuel AME Church in Charleston.

It pains me mightily to even think about what happened at Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina. Never in my life have I heard of  such  a thing happening at an AME church.  I ask all who care to pray for Emanuel AME Church to pray for the victims who lost their lives and for their families who are grieving still today because of of a unexplained and tragic decision of a misguided young man, who let a heart filled with hate drive him to commit such an act against innocent bystanders.

Some things in life are unexplained and if they were we still could not wrap our arms around it. However, now is the time for healing, for all those who care to pray for the victims and their  families. All over this country people are praying, no matter what faith they are, because this incident and how it happened left an indelible impact on all of us.

Wednesday prayer meetings are a tradition, not just in the AME church, but in congregations of different denominations across this great country of ours. So many people are grieving , many are concerned about gun violence and many are asking the simply question WHY!  Sometimes we have no  answers, this is one of those times. One thing is for sure, there is no place for intolerance, there is no place for violence and there is no place of feelings of hate when it comes to worship or any other endeavor in life.

I ask that we all take a moment today to pray for the victims and their families at Emanuel AME Church and pray to  God that gun violence wherever it occurs will be eliminated in America.  God bless Emanuel AME Church and the members of  this great Church as they begin the healing process.  Let’s do all we can to help eliminate intolerance and gun  violence in this country.

The Deal- Jesus, the way, the truth and the life!

Do you know God and what he has in store for your life?  That my friend is a yes or a no. It is quite simple. More importantly do you know His Son,  Our Savior, Jesus Christ?

Christ performed a wonderful and charitable work for us on Calvary when he died for our sins. So that every sin could be forgiving through Him. Yet we often ignore the sacrifice that He made, or worst do not believe. Can you afford to have that attitude and leave this earth without knowing Jesus? It is important because God said that  “No one comes to the Father (God)  except through His Son, Jesus Christ.”

Like all things in life it is a choice, choose wisely today, ask for forgiveness of your sins, transgressions and inequities that you committed  in this life or will commit  and come to the Kingdom today. It doesn’t cost you a cent, but gives you, right here and now,  eternal life when you except Jesus and acknowledge the work He did for you  that day on Calvary.

The Way, the Truth, and the Life
5Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, how do we know the way?” 6Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me. 7″If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; from now on you know Him, and have seen Him.”… Way, the Truth, and the Life

The Deal- A Prayer For Our Enemies

To often we hate and we continue to hate those who do us wrong. We hold grudges and you know what, none of us can deny that we have exhibited this behavior. We are all a work in progress and we all have fell short of the glory of the Lord. This is a prayer for my enemies, yes those that have done me wrong. I've read it will make us all more Christ like. If you like read it aloud and if you have not prayed for those who have done you wrong. Do so today and ask Jesus to come into your life as your personal Savior, by asking for forgiveness of your sins.

Father, I come to You today to thank You for the gift of salvation that You have given to us all through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Thank You Jesus for showing all of us how we should forgive. Jesus when I think of the awful things that they did to You before and during Your work on Calvary, I realize the tremendous sacrifice that You made for me on Calvary. And the beautiful thing is that I do not have to do anything except ask for Your forgiveness and for You to be The Lord and Savior of my life. I ask You today to forgive me of all the sinful things I have done in my life and I thank You for giving me the gift of Salvation through Your work on Calvary. Please come into my life today! Thank You Father God for giving Your only Son Jesus and the sacrifice Jesus made for our redemption and salvation on Calvary. I give my life to You today and forever.

I pray this day for my enemies, those who I have held grudges against for the wrong they did to me. I ask that You bless and keep them. I pray that You strengthen them, so that they will come to know the Love and sacrifice that Jesus made on Calvary for them. I pray that they will know You and ask You into their lives Jesus. Please bless and keep all of my enemies.

I pray this prayer, so that I will take the step to be more like You Father and Your Son Jesus Christ. Strengthen everyone who reads this prayer, open their eyes and their Hearts that they will let Jesus into their lives by simply asking Him for forgiveness of sin and for His eternal Salvation. In this I ask it in Jesus Name I pray Amen!

The Deal- Knowing God, Knowing Jesus Christ

We are all a work in progress…..Continually learning who we are in Christ!

I want to talk about God and His Son Jesus Christ today. Most people do not understand God because they do not reach out and make the effort. They do not love and embrace His Son Jesus Christ. Why because they listen to the world. They listen to a world that does not love you. They listen to a world that cares nothing about you.

I am not here to tell you what to do. But if you seek eternal life then here’s a good chance to turn your life around. Most secular people think that’s Christians, always preaching about Jesus Christ and preaching hate. Yes we preach about Jesus Christ, but a true christian does not preach hate. If they do, they are not christians. Jesus life was all about love, not money, love. Yes some christians cross the line, maybe some are not good people. This world is filled with imperfect people. There is a reason for that- they are human and they are walking within their own way and own thoughts, not the thoughts of God. God gave us all freewill to do what we want, go where we want, be who we want, live how we want to live, worship who we want, try anything we want. That is the will of God our Father and His Son Jesus Christ. You have free will. But that does not mean God or Jesus approves. He will never approve sin. But he readily forgives your sins over and over again because He is a loving God and is always there for you. God is not about Government. He is not about Government regulation. He wants us to respect Government and The Leaders He has put in place. But He gives YOU the right to choose.

You see no one comes to the Father God, accept through the Son, Jesus Christ.

If you don’t believe that , think about the choices you make everyday. They are 100% up to you, did the government approve those choices, did you ask God can I do this? No. Because He gave you free will. He is the way, the truth and the light. You must make the decision to ask His son Jesus Christ to come into your life and confess and forgive your sins. It is a simple decision like deciding to go to a playoff game or deciding to go on a vacation, deciding not to open the bible, deciding not to be a provider to your family. God is hands off. That is why all this turmoil goes on in this earth, because we make the turmoil with our own actions. We shape this world and everything that’s wrong with it is because of us. No it is is not because of God, it is because of us. We are in control and God will never withdraw that freedom from you. Know this we’ve lived in a fallen world because Adam and Eve disobeyed God a long time ago,we inherited sin from them.

Because we disobeyed God a long time ago, I am refering to Adam and Eve, he gave us all free will. It is a simple story, you probably know it. Pick up your family bible if you have one or go online to gotquestions.org. They have all the answers about God and His son Jesus Christ. You have the free will to do it. You can do what you want to do. God is not going to twist your arm. He’s not going to tell you to stop. He will tell you if you ask, because he loves you. It will come in the way that God sees fit. Not in a conversation. I can’t tell you how, because he talks to us all differently, thru His written word, through one of your friends, through me and this blog, through a tv show or hundreds of other ways. God can show up anywhere through all the things that we humans created and did not create (the things created by God). He probably want come to you like he spoke to Moses. Although we can’t rule that option out. But that is up to God.

So if you’re not believing any of this, all I can tell you is that God is real! What I am telling you is real!

If you are not believing in Jesus Christ, if you want to be in God’s kingdom you must accept Jesus as your Savior. You can do what you want. Keep on living that sinful life. All of us do sin. But are you willing to take a chance to really know Him? You might say all of us will die and that will be the end of it. No it want be the end of it. We will all be subject to God’s judgement. Ask Jesus to come into your life!

It’s up to you my friend. It entirely up to you. You’re in the voting booth and can pull that lever, you have many choices, you know that they are real. If I were you I would vote for Jesus Christ. You have choices, many of them. God is not debating and will not debate with you. He gave you free will. You’re debating with yourself. There is only one God and He gave His Son Jesus Christ as a sacrifice for our sins. There is only one way to God, it is thru His Son and our Savior Jesus Christ.

Ask someone you know that is a Christian about these things, if they know Jesus they are more than happy to tell you. If you decide to know Jesus, it is a lifelong learning process. I am still learning, But the Holy Spirit compels me to put it out here so others will know. So you have free will and it is a beautiful thing! Vote for Jesus, confess and ask Him to come into your life. Then go to gotquestions.org, so that you can learn more about Him. The thing about this is it does not cost a thing. Just an open mind. But remember you must come to Jesus Christ alone, only you, not a friend, not your wife or husband, you must ask Him yourself, it is very simple. The benefit? You will have eternal life in Christ and live with Him in heaven. Ask Him to forgive you of your sins, confess that you have sinned and accept that Jesus died on the cross to give you this opportunity.

You want find an “if you act now” call to action in this post. No one will ask you to be in a pyramid scheme. Not one will ask for your credit card number and continually charge it. You have nothing to lose and so much to gain! The beauty is once you do it, you’re in God’s Kingdom and you will receive benefits, however you must strive to live your life the way God wants you to. You will slip and sin, God will forgive you. He only ask that you accept His Son Jesus Christ. Get a good study bible and start reading it, when you start you will not understand the interpretation. Lots of people misinterpret the bible. That’s  why you should get a good study bible, called a commentary bible. Get one and the Holy Spirit will give you understanding as you read.

For God So loved the world that He gave His only Son, who ever believes in Him shall have everlasting life.” John 3:16 .

Jeremiah 29:11

New International Version (NIV)

11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Suffering Servant- Our Savior Jesus Christ, Isaiah 55:3

4Surely our griefs He Himself bore, And our sorrows He carried; Yet we ourselves esteemed Him stricken, Smitten of God, and afflicted. 5But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, And by His scourging we are healed. 6All of us like sheep have gone astray, Each of us has turned to his own way; But the LORD has caused the iniquity of us all To fall on Him.…

The Deal- On The Meaning of Life

Question: “What is the meaning of life?”

Answer: What is the meaning of life? How can purpose, fulfillment, and satisfaction in life be found? How can something of lasting significance be achieved? So many people have never stopped to consider these important questions. They look back years later and wonder why their relationships have fallen apart and why they feel so empty, even though they may have achieved what they set out to accomplish. An athlete who had reached the pinnacle of his sport was once asked what he wished someone would have told him when he first started playing his sport. He replied, “I wish that someone would have told me that when you reach the top, there's nothing there.” Many goals reveal their emptiness only after years have been wasted in their pursuit.

In our humanistic culture, people pursue many things, thinking that in them they will find meaning. Some of these pursuits include business success, wealth, good relationships, entertainment, and doing good to others. People have testified that while they achieved their goals of wealth, relationships, and pleasure, there was still a deep void inside, a feeling of emptiness that nothing seemed to fill.

The author of the biblical book of Ecclesiastes describes this feeling when he says, “Meaningless! Meaningless! …Utterly meaningless! Everything is meaningless” (Ecclesiastes 1:2). King Solomon, the writer of Ecclesiastes, had wealth beyond measure, wisdom beyond any man of his time or ours, hundreds of women, palaces and gardens that were the envy of kingdoms, the best food and wine, and every form of entertainment available. He said at one point that anything his heart wanted, he pursued. And yet he summed up “life under the sun”—life lived as though all there is to life is what we can see with our eyes and experience with our senses—is meaningless. Why is there such a void? Because God created us for something beyond what we can experience in the here-and-now. Solomon said of God, “He has also set eternity in the hearts of men…” (Ecclesiastes3:11). In our hearts we are aware that the “here-and-now” is not all that there is.

In Genesis, the first book of the Bible, we find that God created mankind in His image (Genesis 1:26). This means that we are more like God than we are like anything else (any other life form). We also find that before mankind fell into sin and the curse of sin came upon the earth, the following things were true: 1) God made man a social creature (Genesis 2:18-25); 2) God gave man work (Genesis 2:15); 3) God had fellowship with man (Genesis 3:8); and 4) God gave man dominion over the earth (Genesis 1:26). What is the significance of these things? God intended for each of these to add to our fulfillment in life, but all of these (especially man's fellowship with God) were adversely affected by man's fall into sin and the resulting curse upon the earth (Genesis 3).

In Revelation, the last book of the Bible, God reveals that He will destroy this present earth and heavens and usher in the eternal state by creating a new heaven and a new earth. At that time, He will restore full fellowship with redeemed mankind, while the unredeemed will have been judged unworthy and cast into the lake of fire (Revelation 20:11-15). The curse of sin will be done away with; there will be no more sin, sorrow, sickness, death, or pain (Revelation 21:4). God will dwell with them, and they shall be His sons (Revelation 21:7). Thus, we come full circle: God created us to have fellowship with Him, man sinned, breaking that fellowship, God restores that fellowship fully in the eternal state. To go through life achieving everything only to die separated from God for eternity would be worse than futile! But God has made a way to not only make eternal bliss possible (Luke 23:43) but also life on earth satisfying and meaningful. How is this eternal bliss and “heaven on earth” obtained?

Meaning of life restored through Jesus Christ

Real meaning in life, both now and in eternity, is found in the restoration of the relationship with God that was lost with Adam and Eve's fall into sin. That relationship with God is only possible through His Son, Jesus Christ (Acts 4:12; John 1:12; 14:6). Eternal life is gained when we repent of our sin (no longer want to continue in it) and Christ changes us, making of us new creations, and we rely on Jesus Christ as Savior.

Real meaning in life is not found only in accepting Jesus as Savior, as wonderful as that is. Rather, real meaning in life is when one begins to follow Christ as His disciple, learning of Him, spending time with Him in His Word, communing with Him in prayer, and in walking with Him in obedience to His commands. If you are not a Christian (or perhaps a new believer), you might be saying to yourself, “That does not sound very exciting or fulfilling to me!” But Jesus made the following statements:

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light” (Matthew 11:28-30). “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full” (John 10:10b). “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it” (Matthew 16:24-25). “Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart” (Psalm 37:4).

What all of these verses are saying is that we have a choice. We can continue to seek to guide our own lives, which results in emptiness, or we can choose to pursue God and His will for our lives with a whole heart, which will result in living life to the full, having the desires of our hearts met, and finding contentment and satisfaction. This is so because our Creator loves us and desires the best for us (not necessarily the easiest life, but the most fulfilling).

The Christian life can be compared to the choice of whether to purchase the expensive seats at a sporting event that are close to the action, or pay less and watch the game from a distance. Watching God work “from the front row” is what we should choose but, sadly, is not what most people choose. Watching God work firsthand is for whole-hearted disciples of Christ who have truly stopped pursuing their own desires to pursue instead God's purposes. They have paid the price (complete surrender to Christ and His will); they are experiencing life to its fullest; and they can face themselves, their fellow man, and their Maker with no regrets. Have you paid the price? Are you willing to? If so, you will not hunger after meaning or purpose again.

The Deal- On the Throwback

It's Throwback Time! I'm not talking about the typical throwback Jersey, The NFL Football Jersey that the Pittsburgh Steelers or whatever wore back in the Day. Yeah those were the days. But we can't by any means live in the past, no we must fight to focus not on the past, but right here, right now on in the here and now. Today, this moment, this second. Because this time is what really is important to Lord. You can rock your throwback jersey, yeah it's great. But your purpose is to remain in the word, right here, right now.

To get there we need to go to the Bible, the Ultimate “Throwback Book”. My friend, it is timeless, the words that were written thousand of years ago are still relevant. You don't need to tune in to the latest reality show. That's a worldly invention. No, we all need spiritual intervention that will move us closer to The Lord. Now that is Powerful. The Lord's Word is awesome and through His Word our steps are ordered by The Lord.

The Deal- It’s Already Done!

Our eyes are blind. We think we have to perform some sort of action, make it happen. We feel we must do something before The Lord moves in our lives. Never mind that we already planted the seed of worship and praise. Never mind that we nurtured and grew the seed within us through the WORD. That is powerful! You see The Lord already provided for you and if open your eyes you will see it. It's already done! All we have to do is ask in Jesus Name and diligently stay in the WORD.

You see we operate in a human realm of reality and we can only SEE if we trust the promises of God.

It is what it is!

God may not get there when you want Him to, but He is always right on time!

The next time you feel discouraged. The next time you feel alone, the next time you feel God is not hearing you, Just remember this……. It is already done!

Just Wait On The Lord, stay in the word and watch the blessings begin to flow.

It's already done!

The Deal On- Heaven on Earth

You know, this world is not our home. You can't settle down on Elm Avenue and experience utopia there. There's a reason why. You know, I've mentioned Life Long Learning before. You're given that gift, its not wrapped up in a box. Its more than that. You know our goal, what we long for is a contentment that we never knew we could have right here on earth. In short it is a little bit of Heaven that God gives us. But we must seek this gift and apply it in our lives. I still seek it myself, so I'm just like you saying…..What?

It a state of mind, your reality, my reality. God made it that way. Seek and you will find. Everyone is capable of finding that gift. We will learn together from God on how to find it, through His word and the discernment He gives you and me.
