It is something that we all have experienced. Yeah, makes your soul ache and stretches your endurance. Yet it is something that we would all like to avoid. Adversity. Yet it is a phenomenon that is powerful in the lessons that it teaches you. You can’t come away from adversity without learning something. Everyone has a story and adversity does not play favorites.
Here’s how the dictionary defines it.
Adverse fortune or fate; a condition marked by misfortune, calamity, or distress: A friend will show his or her true colors in times of adversity.
How about this definition?
An adverse or unfortunate event or circumstance: You will meet many adversities in life.
That just about sums it up! That’s adversity. It not your warm and cozy best friend. It not something that we invite for a cup of coffee. Yet it is most often a condition that defines us or redefine us. Builds the character, perhaps that we never knew we had or brings out the worse in us. Take your pick.
Adversity does not play favorites. Yeah we could have an adversity experience party and all of us could be invited. You have your stories and your friends are love ones probably have one that could top yours. You got it! One Gigantic Pity Party! We all know someone who has overcome a sickness. Or perhaps you know someone who has a love one or perhaps an entire family that has faced a visit from adversity.
Usually that person has a remarkable story to tell, not quite unlike a war story or a story of survival. The important thing is how do we learn to face adversity and what are the take aways?
We must have a unique faith in The Lord. Without faith we cannot face adversity and learn the gifts that God give us from going through a circumstance. I do not know how you feel about God and knowing his Son Jesus Christ, but I am a born again believer in Christ Jesus. I believe that God sacrificed His Son on Calvary so that we could have eternal life. I believe that Jesus died for our sins and whosoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have ever lasting life.
John 3:16- For God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten Son. Who so ever believes in Him shall not perish, but have ever lasting life.
That is the crux of the matter and the foundation on how to not only survive adversity but to take something powerful away from experiencing it. You see God expects us to learn from adversity. There is an order to all things in life. Listen and read the Word to discern what God would like you to learn from adversity. It is your spiritual takeaway, You can’t go through anything without learning from it.
Life is too short to constantly be demeaned by employers and customer alike. You know from a spiritual perspective, we will have turmoil in this world. We will continually face less than ideal situations and we will be harassed, taken advantage of and mistreated. Why? Because we live in a fallen, a less than perfect world. That is our reality. We inherited this fate a long time ago. Yet we seem to believe we can have it all in this world.
Once we realized the futility of having it all we soon learn that the better route is to grow in faith. Faith you say? Yes Faith! It is easier said than done. It is something I struggle with as well, but it is a remedy that I accept as real and that the Lord has given us. You see Jesus paid a price for our minds and souls on Calvary a long, long time ago. Get a copy of Passion of Christ to understand what He did for you and I. Be sure to watch it. That is our reality, Christ’s death on the cross. There He Gave His life To save our life! If you don’t understand that get insight by studying the “Word”, The Holy Bible!
We need not feel sorry for ourselves, but we do need to understand we are more than conquerors here on earth when Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith. The most important thing I can do is write about and witness to you that My God is Real! He’s real in my soul and nothing, I mean nothing can take that away from me. Now there you have it, know this- “Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world”. God Bless. Jesus is Lord!
You're all along, at least today it seems that way. The world is pressing against you. Doors are shutting, your friends and relatives seem to desert you, and somehow you're out there so alone. Yeah, here we go again you think, somehow this seems like a broken record, repeating the same stanza over and over again. Yeah it makes sense in your mind , and your thoughts are in agreement with your reality so it's a wrap!! Yet mysteriously a few days, weeks, or month later things start to change, contrary to the thoughts that the enemy placed in your mind just a few weeks ago.
You've lived a Christ centered life, did all you could to be a good Christian soldier, but you asked, why did it happen to me? You know that truly is a “duh” QUESTION you see God has a plan for you through His Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. That plan is for you to truly and whole heartedly trust in THE LORD JESUS. Not doubt that He has already saved you, but rather embrace the fact that he accomplished the work for you on Calvary. You do not have to earn it through deeds. It's a gift freely given on Calvary. Just like Nike says “Just Do It”, Jesus says emphatically “JUST TRUST”. Now that is a true this time in history moment!
At This time in History Jesus did what He said He would do in your life, after you exhausted all resources, feelings, and emotions, you took it upon yourself to just stand and TRUST IN JESUS. He may not get there when you want Him to, but He is always right on time!
They that wait on the Lord, shall renew their strength, they will rise up like eagles. That my friend is the crust of the situation. We need to wait on the Lord, knowing that God has a way of coming to our rescue when it seems like our world is tumbling down. You have been in that situation before. Bills are due, job seems like it is a no win situation, you may be taking care of a love one, you may be battling disease yourself and sometime you wonder if God is really there. They that wait on the Lord shall renew their strength!
That is not an idle promise. I can give testimony to that fact. I was diagnosed with 4th stage prostate cancer some 11years ago, for those of you who don't understand or know about these things, that means the cancer had travelled outside the primary area and traveled through the blood to some distant locale, with prostate cancer that is most likely the bone. Prognoses is that you are usually given about 18 to 24 months to live. It was bleak. I can't give you a human explanation why I am still here. But I can testify that my God is able and on the case 24/7.Those of you who are going through a Cancer Diagnoses and treatment, know that it is an ordeal. But if you survive you know that YOU ARE A SURVIVOR THROUGH CHRIST, and he has given you favor.
Someone asked the question….. have you wondered why some people you know, who were diagnosed with the same cancer are gone and you are still here? No one knows the answer to that question, but we do know that by the Grace of God, you are still here and he has given you Favor.Something you did in your life or you are currently doing has pleased the Lord. You are living according to His Purpose. Romans 8:28 says that All things work for good, for those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose. If you love the Lord and believe in His Son Jesus Christ, you are called according to His Purpose. If You are a caregiver, You are called according to his purpose. If you spend time each day reading God's word, you are called according to his purpose. If you outreach to others and spread God's word, you are living according to His purpose. The point is God takes care of those who Love Him and are called according to His purpose. You are a survivor , I am a survivor because of the Grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
You are not exempt from trouble and turmoil, no it is a constant battle, you will be surrounded by difficult circumstances, sometimes you lose Faith, because it does appear that there is no way out. Here's what you need to do, PUT YOUR FAITH IN THE LORD, give your thoughts, burdens and pitfalls to Him and become immune to your surroundings and find the joy that is there, despite it. You know even in the worst of circumstances, there is always a more difficult one. So this is not a pity party where we compare circumstances. That's not the point. There will always be circumstances. But guess what, there will always be Almighty God and His Son,Jesus Christ and God's grace that He has given to you to defeat your circumstances.
He has not forgot you. and he has not forgotten me. Rather, we all have the victory despite the circumstances. Tell yourself that and praise God for each and everyday that he has given you thorugh Christ. Raise your hands to the Lord and say thank you Jesus, because you have favor, you have the victory, no weak circumstance that satan put-on you can defeat you. Late in the midnight hour, God's going to turn your situation around. Believe it, say it, live it! God is Good, and his mercy endures forever. We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.
If you are not a member of God's Kingdom,, you can know His Son, and Our Savior Jesus Christ, who died on Calvary, so that we could have salvation, piece, healing, hope, forgiveness of our sins and transgressions, the total package, you can have the supernatural ability through Christ to Live Above Your Circumstances Today by asking Jesus to Come into you life right her right now… If you are ready, pray this prayer………..
Dear Lord, I thank you for the sacrifice of your life on Calvary for me thousand of years ago. I have not acknowledge you or lived my life according to your word. I am a sinner and I ask for your forgiveness today. I ask you to come into my life and I acknowledge you as my Savior today. Thank you Jesus, for the work you did that day on Calvary and your gift of Grace, giving me eternal life. Thank You Jesus. I ask it all in your Name Amen.

Thousands Sign Petition to Include Prayer in New York 911 Service
Over 55,000 conservatives, upset with the decision to exclude clergy and prayer at New York City’s 9/11 commemoration service, signed a petition urging Mayor Michael Bloomberg to reconsider his decision.

Father Brian Jordan (L), a Franciscan Priest, blesses The World Trade Center Cross, made of intersecting steel beams found in the rubble of buildings destroyed in the September 11 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center, before it is transported and lowered by a crane into an opening in the World Trade Center site below ground level where it will become part of the permanent installation exhibit in the 9/11 Memorial and Museum, in New York, July 23, 2011.
The petition, created by the Family Research Council (FRC), expresses the frustrations of many who believe prayer should be a part of the 9/11 ceremonies.
“Your plan to exclude pastors and prayer from the Ground Zero commemoration is not only offensive to the families of victims, but strangely overlooks the role that faith played in bringing healing to countless lives,” the petition notes.
It also criticizes Bloomberg for inviting politicians rather than first responders such as the city’s police and firefighters to the ceremony.
“This nation needs prayer more than politics. Please, Mr. Mayor, allow clergy and prayer at this ceremony,” the letter concludes.
Tony Perkins, president of FRC and principle organizer of the petition, says Bloomberg prides himself as a secularist and describes the decision to exclude religious leaders as “a deliberate defiance and insult to people of faith across America.”
FRC’s vice president of Communications, J. P. Duffy, said the petition was launched a week ago and will be available for additional signatures until next Thursday. At that time, he says FRC will combine its petition with that of NYC Councilman Fernando Cabrera (D-Bronx).
As of noon Friday, 55,932 have signed the petition.
City officials have justified their decision to exclude religious leaders and prayer by citing the fact that previous anniversary memorials did not include prayer, and the city wished to continue in that tradition for the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.
Many are still sounding off about the inequity of the situation.
“It is interesting to contrast the 10th anniversary of the attack on the World Trade Center’s Twin Towers with the day of the attack,” Richard Land, president of the Southern Baptist Convention’s Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission, said.
“Chaplains and religious leaders were welcomed, and some were martyred, as they sought to minister their faith to the victims of the attack. On that day, political correctness didn’t matter. It was overwhelmed by the crushing reality of the tragedy of 9/11, and people turned, as they always do, to solace from the realm of the spiritual.”
Indeed, former NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani held a “Prayer for America” memorial service 12 days after New York’s twin towers were attacked. U.S. House and Senate chaplains also held prayer services in Washington, D.C., where the Pentagon was also attacked.
Then President George W. Bush dubbed subsequent anniversaries of the 9/11 tragedy to be a national day of “prayer and remembrance.”
However, those who were responsible for the physical and spiritual wellbeing of 9/11 survivors are now being excluded, Land noted.
“Mayor Bloomberg’s decision demonstrates the mindless secularist prejudice of the political establishment on our nation’s Eastern Seaboard,” Land stated.
Florida Pastor Joel C. Hunter also told The Christian Post in a prior interview that a 9/11 ceremony without church leaders or prayer paints an inaccurate picture of America.
“It’s going to be exclusionary, secularist only, and we are one of the most religious countries in the world. So, the bottom line is, this is not how we were founded. This is not who we are,” Hunter said.
Cabrera, a pastor at New Life Outreach International Church, also has a petition on Change.org. His web petition has 531 signatures as of noon Friday.
The two groups will likely present the signatures to the mayor’s office at a New York press conference. The details have not yet been finalized.
From the Christian Post
Before his second professional season has even begun, naysayers are questioning his confidence that relies on his Christian beliefs.
CBSSports.com national columnist Gregg Doyel recently analyzed Tebow’s interview with Denver Post and said the way he equated his love for God in heaven with tangible rewards on earth amounted to blasphemy. The interview was prompted by reports that Tebow might not begin the season as Denver’s starting quarterback.
Doyel’s analysis angered Tebow’s fans. “Dude, your article bothers me. You know dang well that you painted Tebow as a religious nut-job,” complained one Daniel Liebman. Doyel Friday responded to what he described as “hate mails” from “Tebow fanatics.”
“I didn’t paint him as a religious nut-job. Tebow’s the one holding the brush. I just hung his art on the wall and asked you folks to take a look,” the columnist said.
“Your article on Christian faith is extremely offensive,” wrote another fan, Chance Jones. “I have forwarded my thoughts to many individuals at CBS Sports and will no longer be a customer.” Doyel listed the responses sent by Tebow’s fans followed by a statement defending his analysis.

While Tebow is not known to have responded to criticism, he posted “Joshua 1:19” on his Facebook page Friday. The verse, which reads, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go,” alluded to the charge.
Debi Albritton, a fan commented, saying, “Your faith and your continued show of faith even against all the naysayers is a testament to all Christians. May God bless you and continue to strengthen you against all the adversity you receive!”
Doyel’s article juxtaposed views that suggest “Tebow will never be a good NFL quarterback,” with his confidence in God for his success. “He doesn’t believe it. Which is fine… But check out the reason why he doesn’t believe it,” the sports columnist continued.
Then Doyel quoted Tebow as saying, “Others who say I won’t make it are wrong. They don’t know what I’m capable of and what’s inside me. My family and my friends have been bothered by what’s gone on, and I tell them to pay no attention to it. I’m relying as always on my faith.”
“He’ll make it in this league – for the Bible tells him so,” Doyel remarked. “From the outside it looks like Tebow equates his love for God in heaven with tangible rewards here on earth. And that’s more than wrong. It’s blasphemy.” However, Doyel claimed he had nothing against Tebow or his God and that he considered him the nicest person he had ever met.
Collin Hansen, editorial director of The Gospel Coalition, in a blog Friday, commented on the controversy involving Doyel and Tebow.
“I’m not sure if Doyel knows what blasphemy is, or the seriousness of the charge he’s leveling against Tebow,” Hansen commented. “Tebow could be saying he relies on his faith to withstand criticism and pressure, not that he finds assurance in his future as a starting quarterback because God loves him.”
However, Doyel agrees Tebow’s life has been “grandiose.”
“He was the best high school player in America. The best college player in America, and one of the most accomplished players – one Heisman, two national titles – in history. A first-round draft pick of the Denver Broncos in 2010.”
At college in Florida, Tebow frequently wore biblical verses on his eye black. In the 2009 Bowl Championship Series, he wore “John 3:16” on his eye paint, reportedly causing 92 million people to search the verse on Google. Later, Tebow switched to “Proverbs 3:5-6,” again causing 3.43 million searches of the verse together with “Tim Tebow.
