President Obama Message On Signing The Stimulus Bill

Today, I signed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act into law.

This is a historic step — the first of many as we work together to climb out of this crisis — and I want to thank you for your resolve and your support.

You organized thousands of house meetings. You shared your ideas and personal stories. And you informed your friends and neighbors about the need for immediate action. You continue to be a powerful voice for change throughout the country.

The recovery plan will create or save 3.5 million jobs, provide tax cuts for working and middle-class families, and invest in health care and clean energy.

It’s a bold plan to address a huge problem, and it will require my vigilance and yours to make sure it’s done right.

I’ve assigned a team of managers to oversee the implementation of the recovery act. We are committed to making sure no dollar is wasted. But accountability begins with you.

That’s why my administration has created, a new website where citizens can track every dollar spent and every job created. We’ll invite you and your neighbors to weigh in with comments and questions.

Our progress will also be measured by the tens of thousands of personal stories submitted by people who are struggling to make ends meet. If you haven’t already, you can read stories from families all across the country:

Your stories are the heart of this recovery plan, and that’s what I’ll focus on every day as President.

With your continued support, we’ll emerge a stronger and more prosperous nation.

Obama’s Economic Recovery Plan Has A Proactive Slant

Barack Obama has directed his economic  team to come up with a recovery package that will create new jobs in America.  President Barack Obama said this in his weekly radio address “I have already directed my economic team to come up with an economic recovery plan that will mean 2.5 million more jobs by January of 2011 — a plan big enough to meet the challenges we face, that I intend to sign soon after taking office”.

Obama has directed congress and the senate to move forward on passing such a bill. One one thing that is absolutely certain, there will be job losses and  the American people will need to get back to work, so they will have money to spend and companies and suppliers will have money to operate and customers to purchase their prodcuts.

This is a necessary step given the fragile time our economy is facing. Bold strategic moves must be taken in order be proactive and not reactive. If we allow this economy to put us on the defensive we will not win this war. The more money we can put in the pockets of main steet consumers the better off we will be.

Lieberman’s Senate Career Saved By President Elect Obama

In his continued effort to reach out to former rivals and critics, Barack Obama urged his Democrat Senate
Colleagues to let hard feelings lie and allow Senator Joe Lieberman to continue chairing the Senate Homeland Security Committee. Lieberman, now an Independent criticized President Elect Barack Obama at the Republican National Convention. Lieberman openly supported John McCain and was a close confident to him throughout the campaign.

It goes without saying Lieberman’s Democratic colleagues in the Senate were furious with him. He could
easily be called a modern day Benedict Arnold. Lieberman has President Barack Obama to thank. Lierberman probably deserved worst.

McCain Reluctant to Confront Obama Face To Face

Is McCain scared to face Barack Obama Face to Face and call him a terrorist and unpatriotic? He talked a good talk, but he put Sarah Palin up to be the “Pit Bull” and his wife, no less, Cindy McCain, to carry out the battle against Barack Obama. I call that weak. He had his chance to attack Obama in the debate on Tuesday at Belmont College and he did not take it. Yet here is the war Hero, putting his wife out there to attack, while he want do to it himself. No one is saying that McCain did not show character while serving a a prisoner of war. He was a war hero. But who is John McCain now?

Barack Obama called him out today, questioning why he did not say the things that his surrogates have said on the stump, to his face? It’s a great question. Is McCain, hiding behind Sarah Palin and Cindy McCain? Has the Straight Talk Express, become the ” Quiet Stage Coach? McCain said that no one has every questioned his bravery. Well I believe he’s being called out. Spike Lee, said of McCain contemplating missing the first debate as an out right dodge of a fight. But Lee was a little more blunt than that. He said in my neighborhood, we see someone who runs from a fight as unmainly to put it politely. Joe Biden said today in his neighborhood “if you got something to say to someone, you walk up to him, look him in the eye and say it to his face”

McCain should be willing to confront Obama, since he’s seems to be questioning Obama, character, patriotism and honesty. He can’t even talk the talk or walk the walk.

Media Taking Notice Of Palin’s Attacks Against Obama

The media has begun to take notice over this barrage of attacks that the Palin Campaign has unleashed on Barack Obama. It is dangerous and filled with hate and bigotry. It is safe to say that Palin and McCain have opened themselves up to scrutiny as being bigots. A Chicago Tribune columnist, weigh in her opinion of the attacks. Read the link below for more information.

Bail Out Passed In Senate

The Senate stood up to the plate and passed the bail out bill. It is a bill that appears to be the right thing to do. It will keep the economy going. Open up credit lines and give America a chance to breathe. So now it time for the Congress to pass this legislation. It is all about credit ratings and the individual consumers ability to get car loans, home loans, and business loans. It is better to be proactive, because in the long run it affects Main Street Americans, who simply want to make a living and make an honest wage.

So not matter what we think about the Bail Out, our country is in crises and we must do something about it. By being proactive and not reactive. By getting out in front of this measure we give ourselves a chance to win as a country. Senator Obama and McCain both were in Washington to come together with other Senators to pass this bill. It is a measure for Main Street, not for Wall street. It unfreezes the credit market and gets America back to work again.

The Senate, both Republicans and Democrats, made it possible for all parties to come together to pass this credit life saving bill. The credit crunch, the instability of the Dow and Wall Street were at stake. The Senate helped restore the confidence and optimism and belief that America can be on it feet again. So we have a chance now and it is time for America to go to work together to bail the country out of this economic mess.

Obama Moves Up In The Polls, While McCain Ponders What To Do With Palin

The voters have finally turned their attention to the candidate. The Ole Miss Debate at Oxford, Missisippi  was a chance to see Obama and McCain, side by side in a debate setting. It probably did little for those voters who already made up their mind, but it gave the uncommitted voters a chance to see the differences between Obama and McCain.

Obama, clearly benefited from this more scruitinized  look by the voters. Now a Los Angeles Times/Bloomberg poll gives Obama an edge in the debate and an edge in the weekly opinion poll by 8 percentage points. The stakes are rising in the presidential election and the candidate face more intense scrutinity from voters in the remining debates.  With Sarah Palin, facing intense scrutinity from conservatives who want her off the ticket, McCain will have some serious issues to deal with this week.

Palin’s popularity has dropped considerable over the weeks since her selection by John Mccain as his Vice-Presidential running mate. Since that time because of a series of interviews, Palin has proven to be  unknowledgeable and has looked terrible.

This is a crucial week for John McCain, who faces tough decisions on whether  he keep Palin or cave into conservative Republicans and move her off the ticket.  Look for the rhetoric in this area to increase this week and in the weeks to come.

Palin Already Wants to Go to War With Russia

According to her interview with  ABC’s Charlie Gibson, Sarah Palin wants to go to war with Russia. Sarah Palin is a “Hawk” without site. The inability to see what a war with Russia would really mean. First and foremost no one has ever won a ground war with Russia. The climate is simply too cold. Given that scenario it would simply evolve into a nuclear standoff. At worst the demise of the world as we no it. All over a little country like Georgia.

Secondly we are stretching ourselves entirely too thin. We’re currently not out of Iraq, we have not found Bin Laden, we have as serious potential nuclear threat with Iran, and North Korea looms on the horizon. No one knows where that situation will go. Militarily we are stretched entirely too thin. To advocate that Georgia join NATO, so that NATO countries can come to their aid can happen, but it is a not responsible foreign policy. Particularly when we have done little diplomacy to encourage our allies to join in.

Palin is merely mirroring John McCain’s policy and it is a policy that is curious at and usual at the least.
