America Mourns The Death Of Ted Kennedy

The death of Senator Teddy Kennedy was not a surprise. Many of us knew he had an uphill battle to fight against a very aggressive brain tumor. The passing of Ted Kennedy has brought on much reflection not just about Ted Kennedy, but about the family of service; the Kennedy’s.  This family faced many tragedies, more than many of us could ever dream to confront.  The Kennedy’s are survivors and no matter what you think of  their politics, no one can deny the flair and the resolve that the  three brothers, John, Robert, and Teddy showed during the latter half of the twentieth century.

Ted and his brothers were not perfect, but that is certainly human nature. Yet all three brothers managed to  leave a mark on society like no other family in the history of American politics.  Ted Kennedy is said to be the most liberal of the three brothers, with Robert running a close second. President John Kennedy was more of a conservative, despite popular opinion to the contrary.

Ted Kennedy was an expert of  compromise n the Senate. Despite his politics, Ted Kennedy had gift in finding common ground with Republicans. So many Republicans have come forward to talk about Kennedy’s  capacity to bring Democrats and Republicans together in order to get bills passed.  This  was Ted Kennedy’s legacy.  The Kennedy family has given an incredible gift to the American people. Let’s not forget their legacy and their service to America.  Let’s not forget Senator Ted Kennedy.

President Obama Discusses Reform In Shaker Height, Ohio

President Barack Obama held a town hall meeting  in Shaker Heights, Ohio this afternoon.  Obama started off by saying that his only concern is the people who sent him to Washington. Obama reiterated that change is the cause of his presidency. Obama said his programs has helped to stave off any deeper losses in the economy and in job losses. He warned that it took us years to get into this mess and even more years to get out.  President Obama said “Full recovery can’t come soon enough”.  He said we will need to address fundamental problems that led to this economic situation we are in.

Obama said reform is not just about the  nearly 46 million Americans without Health Insurance. He reiterated that reform is about giving  all Americans more options and keeping Insurance companies out of the debate about your own treatment and coverage. He said no American, never again,  will have to worry about being denied coverage due to pre-existing conditions under the new plan.  He took a dig at Republicans who got us in this mess and point figures at me and saying I am not about fiscal responsibility. They are the ones who got us into this mess by being  irresponsible    in prudent fiscal actions. President Obama ask that congress and senate are working constantly in getting a bill passed. Obama said he will not accept a delay simply because they are afraid of a vote.  Obama said we can’t be afraid to change a system that we no is broken.

He said we got to cut the things we don’t need in order to fix health care.  Obama vows not to sign a health care bills that increase the deficit.  Here are some of the things that Health Care Reform will change.

1.) Use dollars that we are currently spending more wisely than we are currently spending.

2.)President Obama says the proposal will close half of the  ceiling ( donut hole) in Medicare Part D. Many seniors reach the senior and they have to pay the difference. Obama pledged to close the donut hole.

3.) Ideas on the table would be to keep children on their parents insurance until that are 25 years of age. The limit currently is 23 years of age.

4.) Obama says the program will be paid for and not add to the deficit.

5.) Without reform companies will continue to not give raises the employers.

6.) Anyone who does not have health Insurance is able to choose from the plans on the insurance exchange plan and buy that plan at an affordable price. Including those with a pre-existing condition.

7.) There will be reinburement and incentive for prevention and wellness.

8.) The bottom line to pass Health Care reform will be done by the fall.

9.) Some changes will take effect immediate, prescription drug reform, pre-existent condition cause will be eliminated.

New York Post Cartoon Is Insensitive

The New York Post  cartoon is in a word disturbing, and brings up subtle connotations that cannot be tolerated.  This cannot and should not be tolerated from a media outlet, much less a newspaper. It brings up images of  old Jim Crow rules and serve to remind Americans  that there is still need for work in the way of racial insensitivity.

Yes, the Post should be  reprimanded and held accountable for their irresponsible journalistic behavior.  It is no excuse Post editors would approve a cartoon of this nature.  Beyond the rhetoric and verbal nonsense coming from Post officials lets call it what it is…… racist. It is what it is!

Network To Help Each Other In Job Search

If you lost your job, and today we learned that there are 3.6 million Americans who have lost their jobs, then join the club. It is growing daily. Now is the time for congress to act and pass the stimulus package. How many resumes have you sent out?  Day after day, people are sending out resumes, knocking on doors. The trouble is each day job seekers are forced to compete with another 500,000 workers who are doing the same thing…… knocking on doors.

I want to hear your story, perhaps we can network with other right here are this blog. Recruiters take not everyone needs a job. This is a totally bad economy. There are 3.5 million people who need to find a way to provide income for their families.

Lets do something ourselves. If you have networking suggestions. If you know suggestions on how to go about finding a job. I would like to hear from you. I will do my part by providing more suggestions to those of us who are struggling right now to find work.

Why We Need A Stimulus Plan

Last night, President Obama recorded a series of national network and cable news interviews about the urgent need for an economic recovery plan.

Watch the video and share it with your friends and family:

President Obama discussed why we need an immediate effort to create millions of jobs while investing in long-term challenges like energy and health care.

He called for swift investment in job creation while continuing to assist those who are out of work, without health insurance, or in danger of losing their homes.

The Economic Recovery plan passed the House of Representatives, and the Senate is preparing to vote on it very soon. The final version can and will be improved. But the President’s core plan will positively affect families and communities all across the country.

You can help make sure the American people have all the facts so they can support this crucial effort to boost our struggling economy.

The President is leading. Help is on the way.

Lend your voice by sharing this video with everyone you know. Then sign up to join thousands of people across the country who are organizing Economic Recovery House Meetings this weekend:

President Obama, VP Biden, and Secretary of State Clinton, Outlined The Role of Special Envoys

Hillary Clinton met with her State Department Staff today. She also officiated over the roll out of two special envoys, Richard Holbrooke, Special Envoy To Pakistan and Afghanistan, and Former Senator George Mitchell, Special Envoy to the Middle East.  This is a different organizational structure, but one that creates an hands on yet focused approach as to how to deal with the Middle East and Pakistan/Afghanistan situation.  It is clearly a unique arrangement and one that will put both men in creating a more comprehensive policy  in both troubled regions.

President Barack Obama met with the  the State Department Staff as well.   President Obama signed three executive order saying the United States will not torture, close the Gitmo camp and deal with the issue of terrorism.  President Obama promised that we will not waver in our protection; our defense, but we will all use all elements of America power to  bring forth ideas to face and destroy these challenges.  President Obama promised to seek a lasting peace in the Middles East.

Hillary Clinton Will Be Confirmed As Secretary of State

It appears Hillary Clinton will be confirmed as President Elect Barack Obama’s Secretary of  State today.  There were some challenges from the committee, but it appears Clinton will be able to withstand the questioning and pass confirmation.  Senator John Kerry chaired the confirmation committee and as usual Hillary was able to answer all questions efficiently.
