My Father was  an African Methodist Minister and Pastor and  he had  many colorful sayings, here are a few of them.

We will cross that bridge when we get there

I Got Some Turning to do ( Translation- Lots of errands and stops to make)

You Got to be in the machine (You got to be in the click)

You somebody (translation- congratulations on an accomplishment)

You Got to be Better than everyone else

It’s easy to be a regular person, but it’s not easy to be a man of character

It bad when a man is known by the car he drives, rather than by the man who drives the car.

You got to be better than that

Why not lift somebody up, rather than put them down

If I can help somebody, then my living will not be in vain
